CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-area appliance repair company is upsetting customers again.
The husband-and-wife team Ronnie and Crystal Spear owned a company called A Plus Appliance.
Now, they use the name PDQ Appliance.
They've used 45 other names over the years, according to the Better Business Bureau.
Action 9 reported on the Spears in 2013 when a customer, Sherry Wood, believed the company replaced her ice maker with the same part they removed.
"It's very possible, and we wouldn't have known the wiser because he didn't show us anything," Wood said.
He had no proof the company replaced it with the same part.
Now, Janie Dempster said her washer wasn't working right, so she hired Crystal Spear to fix it.
Dempster said Spear showed up, did some work, charged $250 and left.
The machine still didn't work, Dempster said.
She also wonders if Spear reinstalled the same part she removed.
Spear wouldn't come back, Dempster said.
"I want to stop them. This is wrong," she said. "It's not right. You know, people work hard for their money."
Others complained about the Spears online, posting, "Do not call these people. These two are still up to no good," and, "They won't come back to fix it or return my money."
Action 9 called the business to get its side of the story but hadn't heard back after five days.
